Description
Lafayette College collaborates with a variety of Community Partners to organize one-time service opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Students, faculty, and staff, can participate in a project in the Easton area, while alumni across the country engage in their own communities. Morning shifts are available from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and afternoon shifts are available from 1:00PM to 4:00 PM. Many of these projects will take place outside and the event will take place rain or shine.

Projects will meet at the Grossman pavilion, and transportation is provided.

The 5th annual clean up of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail! Closed toe shoes/work boots, long pants, and long sleeved shirts recommended. Some work gloves will be able to provide, so bring own if possible! If willing to haul garbage out of the creek, waterproof boots are helpful. Long pants and boots a must for those hauling garbage from rocky banks on highway side. Other volunteers may be more comfortable picking up lighter garbage along the more accessible paved part of trail.

Volunteers will be picking up trash, cleaning up flower beds, adding compost, turning compost bins, screening compost, and adding compost to raised beds. Appropriate clothing includes old clothes, work boots, or rubber "rain" boots. No open toed shoes!

Volunteers will be spreading gravel or mulch to create a path to a sculpture along the Arts Trail. Tasks will involve carrying shovelfuls and wheel barrels of gravel as well as possibly digging. Markers will be there to show where the gravel needs to go. Wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Work gloves will be provided, but bring your own if possible!

Volunteers needed for the Healthy Kids Day event. Volunteers will greet people at the door, help attendees find their way around the building, and guide them to the next event. A Cardboard Boat Derby will take place in the pool from 2pm-3pm in which volunteers are needed to line the "parade route" from the pavilion to the pool door as participants carry their boats into the facility. Other responsibilities may include carrying boats out of the pool and taking the cardboard outside to the recycling bin. If willing to get in the pool, be sure to dress for swimming and bring a towel!
